Our Caregivers

Donna Maatz, Registered Nurse

I have been a nurse for 29 years, graduating from BCIT in 1992, I have spent the majority of my career in rural nursing. I have speciality certifications in Sexual Assault Nursing, Forensic Nursing, Maternity Nursing and Emergency Nursing. I have spent the last 3 years nursing in Gerontology and Palliative Care. I was born and raised in the beautiful Creston Valley and have tried to dedicate my career to the people of this valley. I look forward to caring for you and your loved ones in a global aspect of nursing.

Kirby Limoges

I have been a nurse since 2015. I started my career as a Paediatric nurse at the Stollery Children’s Hospital, where I was able to complete specialized training courses in paediatric care. My husband and I moved to Creston in 2021 and built our home here on an acreage. Moving here gave me an opportunity to nurse in long-term care. Now, I work along side the wonderful caregivers we have on our team. I look forward to caring for the people of this community of all ages, and am grateful to provide you or your loved ones with the support and care we all deserve.

Diane Thiesen

I became a Registered Nurse in 2009 and currently work as a Caregiver. Born and raised in Ontario, I graduated from McMaster University and began my career in the hospital setting on a stem cell transplant ward. Over the next 13 years, I worked in various health care settings, including home care, post-surgery care, infusion therapy and dental sedation recovery. For more than a decade, I specialized in oncology nursing (cancer care) and spent most of my career working in a busy chemotherapy department. I also practice foot care privately.

My family and I moved to the Creston Valley in 2022 to pursue a simpler life. I live on a small acreage with my husband and our young son, where I homeschool my son full-time and enjoy our homesteading lifestyle. In my spare time, I like to go curling, play disc golf, eat and cook new dishes, go out with friends, explore the outdoors, and play board games with my family. I am honoured to work with the dedicated and compassionate nurses and caregivers at Creston Caregivers.

Damaris Vecounca, Health Care Assistant and Recreation Therapist

Damaris originally grew up in Ontario, and moved out west after getting married in 2006. In 2016, Damaris took her Health Care Assistant course here in Creston, and starting working with Swanvalley Lodge and Crestview. She continued her education in Recreation Therapy. Damaris lives on a small acreage in Canyon with her family, where she grows most of her food. She has a passion for cooking, music and gardening.  In her spare time, Damaris likes to make different types of European desserts, cheeses, sausages and spend time with her family. Damaris believes that all people deserve the best of care, and strives to help improve the quality of life for all clients.

Cathal O'Connor, Registered Care Aide

Cathal is originally from Ireland and first came to Canada in 2017, settling in the small ski town of Fernie where he lived for two years. He graduated in 2014 with a certificate in Health Care Support and is now a registered BC Care Aid in Canada. He has worked in the nursing home sector in Ireland for many years. Cathal became a PR of Canada in 2021 and settled in Creston where he now lives with his wife and dog. He specializes in Dementia and Parkinsons care (among many other conditions) and had also worked in palliative care. He works full time with people with diverse abilities and also enjoys looking after the elderly and listening to their stories while still providing exceptional care. He has a gift for making clients feel at ease with his sense of humor. He gets on well with people of all backgrounds and believes the care clients receive should be of the highest quality, as the greatest gift is caring for those who once cared for us. When Cathal is not working you will find him at the lake or out in the bush hiking with his wife and dog or with friends. He also loves to bake when he can find the time.

Lisa Little, Licensed Practical Nurse

I was born and raised on a farm near Medicine Hat, Alberta. After moving to Kelowna and returning to college, I graduated from Okanagan University College in 2008 as an LPN.

I began my career in long term care and stayed there for 13 years as I enjoyed it. I have lots of experience with dementia, complex care, palliative care and mental health.

My family and I made the move to Creston in 2021, in search of a tighter-knit, quieter community. We live on an acreage in Arrow Creek with our two young daughters, whom we homeschool. Our time is spent tending our large garden and yard as well as our flock of chickens and ducks.

I look forward to caring for members of this community; to provide the best care which your loved ones deserve. I feel honoured to be a part of the Creston Caregivers team, a group that is so dedicated and compassionate.
